Map history
Mapplic keeps automatic snapshots of your Professional maps, so you can look back at earlier versions and restore one if something goes wrong.
Map history is only available with the Professional plan. On other maps the History tab prompts you to activate a Professional slot. View pricing for details.
How snapshots are created
While you edit a Professional map, Mapplic saves snapshots of its data automatically as you work. A snapshot is only taken when the map data has actually changed, and at most one is kept every ~10 minutes so you don’t end up with dozens of near-identical copies. Keep editing and saving and the history builds up on its own.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Snapshots kept | Up to 15 per map. When full, the oldest unnamed snapshots are removed first. |
| Named snapshots | Up to 4. Named snapshots are always preserved. |
The History tab footer shows how many named versions you’ve used (for example, 2 out of 4 named versions used).
Working with snapshots
Open the History tab on a Professional map to see its snapshots, each listed with its date and the name of whoever saved it.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | Give a snapshot a memorable name so it is preserved (up to 4 named). |
| Preview | Open that snapshot of the map in a new tab, without touching the live map. |
| Restore | Replace the current map data with the selected snapshot. You’ll be asked to confirm. |
| Delete | Remove a snapshot you no longer need. |
Restoring overwrites the map’s current data with the snapshot’s data. Preview a snapshot first if you’re unsure.
